Mitsu Salmon | Out/In Aka
Throughout the month of October, 2019, Chicago-based performance artist, Mitsu Salmon brought her practice to Newfields as the performance artist in residence. Mitsu’s practice, which fuses multiple disciplines, addresses themes of multiculturalism, translation, and migration. Guests had an opportunity to gain unique insight into the artist’s process through a series of open rehearsals and movement workshops as well as a culminating performance of Out/In Aka which took place during the opening celebration of A Brush with Beauty: Japanese Paintings in Ink, Color, and Gold.
