Objects > Islands of the Blest

Conceptually and formally referencing Plato’s allegory of the cave, Islands of the Blest unfolds as a kinetic environment of light and shadow in which perception is continually destabilized. Light shifts laterally behind the screen, producing a choreography of moving shadows that drift in and out of focus. Rather than clarifying the scene, illumination becomes a generative force of distortion, fragmenting the subject and complicating the viewer’s ability to locate a fixed or stable image.
