Curatorial > Seitu Jones: At the Crossroads: A Community Meal

At the Crossroads: A Community Meal, engages the Meridian Kessler, Mapleton Fall Creek, Butler Tarkington, Crown Hill & Riverside neighborhoods in a multi-year Social Practice project led by artist, Seitu Jones. Providing a platform for Newfields' neighboring communities, this project addresses issues of food security & social justice through the planning & implementation of a dinner for 250 community members on 39th Street between Meridian & Illinois, a facilitated conversation focused on combating the lasting impact of 100 years-worth of racist housing and environmental policies that led to the formation of economic deserts, and a commissioned 421-foot-long quilted runner by artist and activist, LaShawnda Crowe Storm.
